Lecture: Recognising fraud attempts and acting correctly

Bocholt - On Thursday, 30 November, the city of Bocholt invites you to a lecture by Chief Superintendent Klaus Vogel in the event hall of the Stadtsparkasse Bocholt (Neutorplatz).

Grandson scams, shock calls or "fake police officers" - there is a wide range of scams that con artists use to try and defraud older citizens in particular of their money.

On Thursday, 30 November at 2 p.m. in the Stadtsparkasse Bocholt, Chief Detective Inspector Klaus Vogel will explain the scams and give useful tips on how those affected should act in such situations.

According to the NRW State Office of Criminal Investigation, senior citizens are no more likely to fall victim to criminal offences than people in other age groups. Unfortunately, however, some perpetrators and groups of perpetrators have specialised in targeting older people and robbing them of their possessions through doorstep scams, theft from flats, pickpocketing, purse snatching and robbery.

In his presentation, Klaus Vogel will cover a wide range of scams, most of which target senior citizens.

About the event

The lecture is a joint event organised by the demography officer and the senior citizens' office of the city of Bocholt and Stadtsparkasse Bocholt.
