Cycle route with smuggling stories to listen to
The smuggling route is a signposted cycle route through the border region near Voorst, Dinxperlo, Anholt, Megchelen and Gendringen.
There used to be a lot of smuggling in this area, and numerous stories and anecdotes have emerged. These can be listened to or read online using ten QR codes along the route. Other entertaining smuggling stories can also be found online.
The 49-kilometre cycle tour, which can also be shortened into 33 or 17-kilometre sections, leads along paved cycle paths as well as dirt tracks.

Strengthening the Bocholt brand
The city of Bocholt is delighted that the reactivation of the route has succeeded in further strengthening two distinctive features, namely cycling and the proximity to the Dutch border.
This has a positive effect on cycling tourism in the border region and the leisure experience of the citizens living here. The background to this is a representative brand study that identifies cycling and proximity to the border as key characteristics of the city.
