Dementia backpack action: more media, another backpack
The senior citizens' advisory board and the city library have revised the dementia backpacks - and purchased another backpack
As of now, the municipal library has another dementia backpack that citizens can borrow. In addition, the existing offer was supplemented by further media due to the high demand. The project is supported by the senior citizens' advisory council and the senior citizens' office of the city of Bocholt.
Whether relatives of dementia patients, caregivers or institutions for seniors - all interested parties have the opportunity to borrow one of now six dementia backpacks free of charge from the municipal library.
The Senior Citizens' Advisory Council and the Senior Citizens' Office provide citizens with another backpack on the topic of "employment", thus completing the offer.
"Everyone is totally happy that there is a third employment backpack, because the demand was especially high for this one and the waiting list can now be relieved," says Claudia Alders from the municipal library. "We are always pleased about the good cooperation with the senior citizens' advisory council."
More guidebooks and more media in the backpacks
In addition to the new backpack, the media in the existing backpacks were also revised. Here, in particular, new guidebooks for private dealings with dementia sufferers were purchased, but also films that are well suited for sufferers.
Since 2017, the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council, the Senior Citizens' Office and the municipal library have now been working together to provide citizens with the free offer of "dementia backpacks".
"The offer is very well used. It is important to us to give all citizens the opportunity to receive supporting material for dealing with dementia patients free of charge," says Nina Kremer, head of the senior citizens' office.
The dementia backpacks are a project of the senior citizens' advisory council of the city of Bocholt in cooperation with the senior citizens' office, the municipal library and the Bocholt Dementia Network. They can be borrowed free of charge without a library card for up to four weeks in the municipal library.
