320 pupils learnt about studying, training and more at the Bocholt comprehensive school
After four digital editions, the University Counselling Day took place in person again this year - and attracted around 320 young people from grammar schools, comprehensive schools and vocational colleges to Bocholt Comprehensive School. Student counsellors, universities, the Federal Police and many other institutions offered a wide range of information about studying, training and planning for the future.
After four digital editions, the 23rd University Counselling Day finally took place in person again this year - and with great success. Bocholt Municipal Comprehensive School opened its doors to around 320 sixth form students from local grammar schools, comprehensive schools and vocational colleges.
The event was organised by the city of Bocholt in collaboration with the HBT organisers' association, consisting of the University of Münster, the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences Gelsenkirchen-Recklinghausen-Bocholt, the employment agency, the city savings bank and the city of Bocholt, as well as the host school. The aim was to provide young people with comprehensive information about studying, training, financing and stays abroad.
In two counselling sessions, the participants were given direct insights into various study programmes and career paths in small groups. In addition, an information exchange offered the opportunity to clarify individual questions and find out about alternative options such as a dual study programme or joining the Federal Police. A total of 16 institutions presented themselves with a wide range of specialisations.
Isabel Testroet, Head of the VHS, JUNGE UNI and City Library divisions, was very pleased with how the day went: "The 23rd University Counselling Day offers valuable guidance for high school graduates and was held in person for the first time again after four digital rounds. It is particularly nice that the municipal comprehensive school, which still has a very young sixth form history, was available as a committed organiser."
Despite the lower number of high school graduates next year - due to the switch from G8 to G9 - the university counselling day was fortunately well attended. The many conversations and positive feedback show this: Personal counselling is still very important for young people on the path to their future.
