City of Bocholt awards integration prize for the second time

Applications can be submitted until 30 April 2025 // Take part now

The city of Bocholt is awarding an integration prize for the second time this year to honour outstanding commitment to diversity, equal opportunities and integration. The prize is endowed with 2,000 euros. Applications can be submitted until 30 April.

Background: On the recommendation of the Integration Council, the City Council decided in 2022 to award an integration prize for the first time in 2023 and every two years thereafter. The prize was awarded for the first time in 2023. At that time, the Egyptian Emad Armanious was honoured for his outstanding social commitment, as were the pupils of Hohe-Giethorst-Schule for their "School-without-Racism-Office".

Applications now open

Applications can be submitted from now until the deadline of 30 April 2025 via the city's website www.bocholt.de/integrationspreis. All information such as conditions of participation, award guidelines and the application form can be found there.

Applications are open to private individuals, clubs, associations, institutions, initiatives, schools, individual school classes, religious communities, citizens' initiatives, companies and legal entities that have shown outstanding commitment in Bocholt in advocating diversity, combating discrimination, racism and disadvantage and/or promoting equal opportunities and social participation as well as the integration of people with an international family history.

"I am very pleased that the city council has agreed to our proposal to create an integration award", says Juan Lopez Casanava, Chairman of the Integration Council of the City of Bocholt. "We have also found two worthy winners in 2023."

Mayor: "Recognising people for their great commitment"

"Every commitment to solidarity contributes to the cohesion of our society. It is great that we are able to honour people who are committed to our community in such an outstanding way", says Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff. He is looking forward to receiving numerous applications and suggestions for the Integration Award, which "will once again show us the entire spectrum of support." This includes not only large projects from strong organisations, but also the supposedly small initiatives of individuals, explains Kerkhoff. "Everyone is equally important to us and welcome to take part in the competition."

Jury decides

Applications can be submitted from now until 30 April. After the application deadline, the jury, which is made up of First City Councillor Björn Volmering, a delegated city councillor and three directly elected members of the Integration Council, will meet and decide whether to invite nominees or applicants to a personal presentation. The jury can also decide to view proposals and activities on site.
