Exhibition at the Kunsthaus: "Books can change people!"
Exhibition "Vorsicht Buch!" opens at Kunsthaus Bocholt // 30 objects on display until 3 July // Free admission
"Books can change people. So: Watch out for books! " With these words, Deputy Mayor Gudrun Koppers opened the exhibition of the same name at Kunsthaus Bocholt. Over the past six months, more than 140 sixth form students from the European school "Mariengymnasium Bocholt" have created works of art on the theme of books and their integration into European history.
After two partial exhibitions at the Stadtsparkasse Bocholt and the Bocholt City Library, visitors can view all the exhibits at the Kunsthaus Bocholt (Osterstraße 69) free of charge until 3 July 2024. Opening hours are from Tuesdays to Sundays from 3pm to 6pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 1pm.
"There's an artist in everyone!"
The chairman of the Euregio-Kunstkreis e.V., Klaus Landsmann, was delighted to welcome not only many pupils but also guests to the exhibition opening. The headmistress of Mariengymnasium Bocholt, Ruth-Maria Sonntag, thanked her pupils for the "great exhibition". In this exhibition, art and the idea of Europe come together. She transformed the famous quote by the artist Josef Beuys ("Every human being is an artist.") into "There is an artist in every human being." She concluded: "In front of me are all artists and all works of art."
Art teacher hits a nerve with the pupils
Sonntag's special thanks went to Daglef Seeger, who, as head of the art department, had inspired the young people for this exhibition idea. It was partly thanks to him that more than 30 works of art adorned the rooms of the Kunsthaus Bocholt.
Deputy Mayor Gudrun Koppers congratulated Seeger on this exhibition. "You have struck a chord, suggested a theme that interests the pupils." At the end of the opening at Kunsthaus Bocholt, pupil Nélia dé Sá recited a poem she had written herself based on the world-famous fairy tale "Hänsel and Gretel" by the Brothers Grimm.
Funded by the Europe Cheque
The exhibition is financially supported by the NRW state initiative "Europa-Scheck".
