One day after the election on Wednesday, 6 November at 7 pm // Speakers present and discuss with
The US elections will take place on 5 November, the presidential seat will be filled and the Americans will have to decide: Harris or Trump. One day after the election, on 6 November, a moderated online discussion on the US election will take place, which is aimed at politically interested citizens. EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt would like to draw attention to this.
The upcoming elections in the USA are a hot topic in the media. The EUROPE DIRECT Centres Bocholt, Gütersloh District and Steinfurt District, together with the Europa-Union Bocholt e.V., are inviting participants to an online event on the day after the election to discuss the election and its potential impact on politics in Europe and Germany as well as the everyday lives of citizens. Registrations for the event will be accepted via EUROPE DIRECT Gütersloh under the link "The USA has voted". A participation link will be sent after registration.
What are the implications for Europe?
For over 200 years, the citizens of the USA have elected their head of state every four years. The 47th presidential election is now coming up on 5 November 2024. Will Donald Trump once again take office, which is considered one of the most powerful in the world, or will Kamala Harris become the first woman to lead the United States?
What does this election mean for the USA, the EU, Germany and our everyday lives? What impact will the result have on international politics and the economy?
The experts
Doris Simon, USA correspondent for Deutschlandfunk, and Dr Siebo Janssen, political scientist, will take part as a team of experts. Jochen Leyhe will be the moderator.
Participants are cordially invited to share questions and thoughts with the speakers and organisers.
