European elections 2024: experience candidates live in the election arena

In preparation for the European elections on 9 June 2024, candidates from various parties will be answering questions from Bocholt's citizens. The event will take place next Friday, 17 May, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the restaurant "Zur Glocke" at Alfred-Flender-Straße 128 in Bocholt. Admission is free, snacks included.

On this evening, interested visitors will experience a different kind of election campaign, promises Sonja Wießmeier from EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt: "The election arena format focuses on the exchange between citizens and the candidates. There will be no monologues."

Who is behind which political positions?

In the run-up to the event, the candidates for the European elections will be sent several questions to answer in writing. These answers will be presented on the evening of the event before the first candidate enters the election arena. Can the audience guess which party is behind the different points of view?

Speaking and answering questions

After the audience has made a guess, the candidate reveals themselves and has to answer the audience's questions. "This gives voters the chance to ask questions about issues that are important to them", says Wießmeier. Can the candidate provide convincing arguments?

The election arena series is organised by Europa-Union Bocholt e.V. in cooperation with EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt. Registration is requested at europe-direct(at)bocholt(dot)de .
