Bocholt visitor group gains insights into European aviation safety
Europe Direct Office and Adult Education Centre invited to the excursion to Cologne
The "European Aviation Safety Agency" (EASA), based in Cologne, is responsible for ensuring safety and environmental protection in European aviation. Students of the Westphalian University and citizens of Bocholt now gained interesting insights into the work of this institution. The Europe Direct Bocholt office in cooperation with the local adult education centre had invited them.
The EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) has its headquarters in the former railway headquarters on Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer. EASA's tasks are manifold and range from the creation of uniform guidelines to the monitoring of flight safety and the certification of aircraft. Experts from almost all European countries are constantly working to ensure that flying over Europe is safe. For example, the Bocholt group learned which tests have to be carried out before an aircraft can be certified and take to the air.
