Exhibition - #EUwomen: Women in European Politics - Successes Opportunities and Hurdles
Stadtsparkasse Bocholt // Opening 21 September 18:30 // Free admission // Registration for the opening now possible
The travelling exhibition "#EUwomen" has now arrived in Bocholt. The Equal Opportunities Officer of the City of Bocholt and EUROPE DIRECT cordially invite you to the opening and lecture. From 22 September to 6 October, the exhibits will be on display at the Stadtsparkasse, Neutorplatz 1 in Bocholt, during opening hours.
On the subject
The founding phase of the European Community is usually conveyed with reference to the so-called founding fathers: Konrad Adenauer, Robert Schumann, Jean Monnet, for example, are some of the personalities associated with the vision of a united Europe. The fact that women also played an active and pioneering role in the development of the European idea and in the first founding phase, on the other hand, is little known. From Ursula Hirschmann as the European Federalist of the first hour to Simon Veil, first President of the European Parliament, to Sofia Corradi, the founder of the EU exchange programme ERASMUS - why do we know so little about women? The exhibition presents some of these women and portrays other actors who pursued goals such as equal opportunities, gender equality and women's rights as human rights in European integration.
