1,600 euros for Caritas outpatient family support

Revenue comes from the city of Bocholt's bulky waste exchange

The proceeds from the city of Bocholt's bulky waste exchange, which took place last Saturday in the vehicle hall of the waste disposal and service company (ESB), went this time to the outpatient family support organisation Caritas Bocholt. They can look forward to receiving around 1,600 euros. Markus Beckmann, division manager of Caritas, accepted a symbolic cheque from waste consultant Petra Tacke.

The money will benefit around 40 Bocholt families who are supported by Caritas. Beckmann: "Strolling through the Christmas market, enjoying a treat, making small things possible - we want to ensure that families for whom this is not normally financially feasible can have a wonderful pre-Christmas season."

Many visitors took the opportunity at the bulky waste exchange to stock up for the upcoming Christmas month at a favourable price. By the end of the exchange at around 12 noon, many items had found new buyers. "The range of Christmas tree baubles, Christmas decorations, pictures, books and games was bigger than ever before. 50 beer tent tables bent under the colourful load," reports waste consultant Tacke. The sale was actively supported by Caritas employee Beckmann.

About the bulky waste exchanges

The popular bulky waste exchanges organised by the city of Bocholt serve to reuse items in good condition that are delivered to the Bocholt recycling centre. A lot of waste is avoided by keeping things in use for longer. The bulky waste exchanges are organised several times a year and offer citizens the opportunity to purchase usable household goods and bric-a-brac for little money. The proceeds are also used to support a social cause.
