Light Sunday in Bocholt

Light Sunday takes place as an open Sunday on 3 November from 1-6 pm in Bocholt's city centre, which is seen by traders in the city as a prelude to Christmas shopping.

Illuminated figures

Archibald the owl and his friends await numerous visitors in the city centre. This is because 20 illuminated figures such as bears, reindeer, squirrels and others are set up in the city centre and create an atmospheric ambience that invites you to linger and stroll around. Not only will the figures light up at the sight, but also the eyes of visitors to our city.

Particularly beautiful and heartfelt selfies can be taken at the new Arch of Hearts, which stands on the market square in front of the historic town hall.

Illuminated stilt figures

As dusk falls, Auraya and Lumivatar, two illuminated stilt figures, will provide visitors with magical moments. They delight the audience from lofty heights with charm, elegance, humour and a good dose of grace, enchanting the hearts of young and old alike.

Fire show on the market

The highlight of the day will be the fire show on the market square. At 4 pm and 5.30 pm, esteffania will create an extraordinary and impressive atmosphere with high-calibre fire artistry. In addition to beautiful choreographies, esteffania will enchant her audience above all with expressive charm and dance. Let yourself be mesmerised by impressive flame, spark and pyro effects.

The historic town hall, in front of which the show takes place, will also be illuminated in spectacular colours in keeping with the Sunday of Lights theme.

Info Fair "Lifetime- Lifetime"

The information and experience fair "Lebenszeit" will take place for the first time at the Stadthotel Bocholt, right next to the bus station, in parallel with Lichter Sunday, offering an informative and entertaining journey through life with all its ups and downs. Around 20 exhibitors cover topics such as moments of happiness and joie de vivre as well as illness, dying and mourning. The balancing act between good and bad times will be presented in an extremely lively way and people are invited to watch, get to know, listen and try things out.

"Light Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to experience the anticipation of the coming Advent season, perhaps do your first Christmas shopping or treat yourself and support the local economy at the same time", says Ludger Dieckhues, Managing Director of City Marketing "We look forward to welcoming many visitors to enjoy this day with us."

Free parking facilities

Parking is free in the entire city centre and StadtBus Bocholt GmbH is setting up a free special service on this Sunday. This means that Bocholt residents who don't want to take their bike can travel to the city centre in comfort by bus.

Many thanks to Bocholter Energie- und Wasserversorgung for their support of Lichtersonntag. The event is organised by Stadtmarketing Bocholt on behalf of ISG Altstadt Bocholt and the advertising associations of Neutorplatz and Shopping Arkaden.
