Everything you need to know about "Bocholt Wandert"
The second Bocholt Hiking Day "Bocholt Wandert" starts next Sunday, 13 April.
The starting and finishing point of the three hiking routes over 25, 15 or 8 kilometres is the picturesque Diepenbrock Castle in Bocholt-Barlo. Along the way, participants experience the scenic routes that take them through Bocholt-Barlo and northwards to Woold in the Netherlands. Over 2,000 hikers are expected to take part.
Remaining tickets
Tickets are already sold out online. A few remaining tickets are still available from the city marketing office. However, spontaneously interested hikers should call 02871/ 29 49 33 0 in advance.
Check-In
Anyone who has not managed to pick up their hiking pass from the city marketing office in advance can of course do so on 13 April before the start of the walk. All children who would like to do the puzzle fun with Bokeltje or the cuddly toy scavenger hunt along the way will also receive their puzzle templates at the check-in.
Routes
The three hiking routes have been retained from last year. This year, the routes will only be hiked in the opposite direction. The routes can be viewed at www.bocholt.de/bocholtwandert.
Information on the traffic situation and safety
There will be temporary road closures to ensure the safety of participants. The roads affected include:
- The entire Eschhegge is currently completely closed to bicycle and car traffic due to roadworks. The forest path between Büffelhof Kragemann and Eschhegge 5 can also not be used by cyclists during the hiking day (13 April until the afternoon).
- The road Zum Venn between Winterswijker Straße and Dölls Diek will be closed until approx. 13:00.
Participants are asked to be careful, especially in areas with poor visibility. A number of areas will be secured by signposting, flashing lights and marshals. In principle, the general traffic regulations apply and walkers are responsible for their own road safety.
Residents and neighbours along the routes north of Barlo to Woold in the Netherlands are asked to drive with particular care on 13 April.
Arrival and parking facilities
The organisers ask that as many participants as possible arrive by bike. However, a large car parking area will be set up on Winterswijker Straße, coming from Bocholt, just before Diepenbrock Castle.
This time, bicycles can be parked on the northern castle grounds, coming from Bocholt, behind the castle. The entrance is via the large iron gate on Winterswijker Straße. Helpers from the youth fire brigade and the THW youth organisation will be on site.
Catering on the way
All participants are asked to bring their own water bottle, which can be refilled at the aid stations. Fruit and small snacks will also be waiting for participants there. Mobile WCs are available at all aid stations.
Varied supporting programme
In addition to the hikes, the event site at Diepenbrock Castle offers a colourful supporting programme for the whole family. There are great play opportunities for younger guests, including a climbing tower, a bouncy castle, a small fleet of vehicles and large building blocks. Partner company Intersport Pieron Partner will also be presenting interesting hiking-related products. Intersport Pieron also has a Hau den Lukas competition up its sleeve. The Volksbank Bocholt photo box will once again be available for all hikers as a souvenir of the tours, and delicious food and drinks will be on offer for visitors and participants in the Schlosscafé Diepenbrock.
Presenter Matthias Sprick will provide hikers and visitors with all the important information.
