Youth protection: Children and young people design motifs for "Bocholt rüttelt wach" campaign

Six ideas selected and awarded

"Bocholt rüttelt wach!" is the title of the new youth protection campaign of the city of Bocholt. It deals with topics such as alcohol, (cyber) bullying or media and mobile phone use. The special thing about it: For the first time, the campaign motifs were designed by children and young people themselves - messages from kids for kids. A jury has now selected six of the 34 entries that will appear on posters in the future. The creative minds behind them have now been awarded.

180 children and young people from six Bocholt schools responded to the call and took part. The most convincing ideas were submitted by Leon Tembrink, Matthis Artz, Matilda Deing, Milla Priebs, Annika Brauer, Maya Föcking, Jule Schmeink, Charlotte Naber, Lutz Boland, Semra Koc, Bianca Hoffmann and Oliwia Peistert.

Elisabeth Kroesen, deputy mayor, is "thrilled with how intensively you have dealt with the topics. Great works have been created, which will be on display in Bocholt in the future, for example in schools or on occasions such as carnival, funfairs or Abi-Vorfeten." First city councillor Thomas Waschki adds: "Up to now, professionals have created the municipal youth protection posters. They were good, but yours are even better!"

All the posters submitted are now on display for a fortnight in the foyer of the Stadtsparkasse Bocholt on Neutorplatz. In addition, the motifs can be seen on the Internet on the municipal homepage at www.bocholt.de.

The 12 proud winners, most of whom created the posters in groups, are looking forward to vouchers from the shopping arcades. In addition, they will receive an exclusive "Bocholt rüttelt wach" (Bocholt shakes you awake) drinking bottle, in keeping with the campaign.

The Stadtsparkasse Bocholt is sponsoring the campaign.
