Together for a safe carnival
Youth protection and safety: City of Bocholt appeals to carnivalists
Youth protection during carnival: The city of Bocholt is once again drawing attention to the issue of underage drinking at the height of the fifth season, the approaching carnival weekend, in particular the Rose Monday parade. All adults in Bocholt, in particular innkeepers, sales outlets, event organisers and parents, are asked to pay close attention to compliance with the Youth Protection Act and not to pass alcohol on to minors.
Take care of children
The Youth Protection Act protects children and young people and sets clear limits: The consumption of alcohol is only permitted from the age of 16 (beer, wine) or 18 (e.g. spirits). The same applies to tobacco products and cannabis.
Alcohol is a neurotoxin and cytotoxin that is particularly harmful to the developing organism of children and adolescents. Even small amounts can lead to health problems. Parents in particular have a responsibility to protect their children from the consequences of alcohol consumption and to fulfil their duty of supervision.
Do without glass
The city council is also appealing to all carnival revellers to refrain from using glass containers during the Rose Monday parade. Broken glass poses a risk to everyone, especially children, and makes cleaning work more difficult.
Emergency assistance on the pub square
In an emergency, the Malteser tent on the Gasthausplatz is available as a contact point for people in need of help and missing children.
