Foster Child Service
Foster care is the placement of children, adolescents and young adults in a foster family. Children and adolescents who, for various reasons, cannot live with their parents temporarily or for a longer period of time, find a safe place to live with stable structures in a foster family. The foster child service cares for and accompanies the children and adolescents, the families of origin as well as the foster families and tries to develop solutions in coordination with everyone for the benefit of the child.
The aim of foster child care is to ensure that children can realise their personal rights and that comprehensive protection is guaranteed. It must be ensured that the children's participation is promoted and their individual abilities are developed in the private setting of the foster family.
In this context, the foster child service ensures the selection, accompaniment and counselling of foster parents.
The services offered by the foster child service are intended to protect the families from excessive demands by providing support and guidance appropriate to the respective situation. In addition, foster families receive support through group and further training programmes.
Their family of origin remains of great importance to the children. Only an open approach to this fact enables the children to express their questions and wishes and is part of the preparation, selection and counselling of foster families. Ideally, a joint cooperation between the family of origin and the foster family is successful in the best interest of the child. The care of the children and adolescents also includes the organisation of accompanied contact with the family of origin, which is adapted to the respective needs of the child in the assistance planning.
