Connection in the center of Stenern completed // path can be used immediately
On Friday, the access road at the new center in Stenern with sidewalks and bike paths was officially opened for use. The road is an important first step for the development of the new center and is intended to relieve the traffic at St. Agnes Hospital.
At the new center in Stenern, Klemens-Honsel-Weg was officially opened for use today. The road with comfortable sidewalks and bike paths connects Barloer Weg with a new traffic circle Barloer Weg / Sauerbruchstraße.
"We hope that the new connecting road will also significantly ease the traffic situation in front of St. Agnes Hospital," says Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff. In addition, he says, it is an important step toward opening up the new Stenern center with a local supply center and connection to the planned health and educational facilities.
The Klemens-Honsel-Weg is to be used in the main in the future - the existing Barloer Weg between Louis-Pasteur-Ring and Sauerbruchstraße will in future only serve to provide access to the hospital, the medical centers and the adjacent residential development.
Perennials and new trees
In the coming year, the new Barloer Weg/Klemens-Honsel-Weg/Sauerbruchstraße traffic circle will be planted with perennials and bulbs. It was designed to be pedestrian-friendly with four center islands and crosswalks. Along Klemens-Hosel-Weg, 114 new trees are also to be planted.
