New bike boxes installed at the arcades
Bocholt - In Bocholt, cyclists will soon be able to park their bikes in special bike boxes to protect them from the weather, theft and damage. The city has also set up operating terminals at three locations in the city centre, which provide easy and convenient mobile access to bike boxes and parking facilities.
Last year, the city of Bocholt announced that it would expand the range of secure bicycle parking facilities and offer secure parking spaces at Liebfrauenplatz, at the entrance to the shopping arcades and at the bus station (Europaplatz), which operate according to the system of the nationwide provider "Radbox.nrw".
One of the main advantages of radbox.nrw is the option of booking a fixed parking space in a lockable bicycle parking facility. This booking ensures that the bicycle is optimally protected. The platform also provides NRW-wide information on available bicycle parking spaces, allowing users to select their preferred location and book and pay directly.
The booking itself is simple and straightforward via a mobile website. Access to the bicycle parking facility is therefore possible without the need for a physical key. Instead, cyclists can choose between TAN, chip card or QR code.
As a bicycle-friendly municipality, the city of Bocholt is strengthening its infrastructure for bicycle traffic with this measure.
Bike boxes and terminals soon available for use
Anyone wishing to use the bike boxes at the arcades will have to be patient a little longer: New electrical cables must first be laid before the facility can be used. The city of Bocholt hopes to be able to open the facility for use in March.
The operating terminals at the railway station, Liebfrauenplatz and Europaplatz (cycle station) have also been installed this week and will be put into operation shortly, the city has announced.
