Cycle lanes on Uhlandstraße to be improved
The cycle paths on Bocholt's Uhlandstraße are being widened and modernised. Cyclists travelling between KuBAai/Innenstadt and the Aasee will benefit most from this. The extensive construction work will start tomorrow, Tuesday.
In the course of the road reconstruction, Uhlandstraße will be reconstructed over a length of about 140 metres between the Bocholter Aa and the north-eastern end of the Aasee. In the future, cyclists will be able to use a four-metre-wide bi-directional cycle path along Uhlandstraße.
A new crossing with traffic lights for cyclists will also be installed and a new connection to the cycle path at the Textilmuseum and in the direction of KuBAai/ Innenstadt will be created. The measure is part of the mobility concept of the city of Bocholt. The goal: to promote walking and cycling and to enable an almost car-free cycle path connection along the Aa from the Aasee to Lowick. The other sections along the Aa are to be developed step by step over the next few years, according to the city of Bocholt.
The work on Uhlandstraße will start tomorrow (Tuesday) and is divided into several construction phases. They will start in the western section of the footpath and cycle path from the entrance to the "Texilmuseum" in the direction of Industriestraße - for this purpose, Uhlandstraße will become a one-way street and traffic from Rhede will be diverted.
Diversions for traffic from Rhede
Cycling traffic coming from Rhede will be diverted via the Textilmuseum car park and the path next to the river Aa past the construction site.
Car traffic coming from Rhede will be informed of the construction site at the Fachhochschule. This will allow motorists to bypass Uhlandstraße via the main road. An alternative diversions will take place via Münsterstraße, the Stadtring (Theodor-Heuss-Ring) and Industriestraße.
Restrictions for bus line S75
The construction site also affects the bus line S75 ("Sprinterbus") from Münster. According to the transport department of the district of Borken, the Sprinterbus will only serve the "Bahnhof" bus stop in the direction of Münster.
Due to the diversion, the S75 bus from Münster will go directly to the Bocholt bus meeting point at Europaplatz. Passengers can continue from there to the station with the lines C4, C11 and C13.
