Construction work on the SC TuB Mussum pitch started

Future artificial turf pitches and tennis courts

Artificial turf pitches and tennis courts are being built on the sports field of SC TuB Mussum. The construction work has now started.

Two artificial turf pitches (one large pitch and one small pitch) will be built on the existing artificial pitch and on part of the existing grass training field. The completion of these new artificial turf fields is expected around the end of October 2023.

The new tennis court facilities, consisting of four courts, are scheduled to be operational in spring 2024.

The total construction costs are 1.6 million euros, of which 610,000 euros will come from funding under the federal programme "Redevelopment of Municipal Facilities in the Areas of Sport, Youth and Culture".

On 1 October 2021, the two clubs TuB Mussum and SC 26 Bocholt merged to form the new club SC TuB Mussum 1926 e.V.. The construction work is necessary so that the club can meet the increased requirements in the future against the background of growing membership numbers at the sports grounds on Alfred-Flender-Straße.

About the Federal Programme "Rehabilitation of Municipal Facilities in the Areas of Sport, Youth and Culture

The federal programme "Rehabilitation of Municipal Facilities in the Areas of Sport, Youth and Culture" (SJK) supports cities and municipalities throughout Germany in maintaining their social infrastructure. It was first launched in 2015. The federal government has made a total of 1.54 billion euros available until 2021. Around 900 projects have been selected for funding, 750 of which involve sports facilities. The focus is on social coexistence and climate protection. Funding is provided for investment measures - refurbishments and, in exceptional cases, replacement new buildings - with particular regional and supra-regional significance as well as very high quality with regard to their energy effects and adaptation to climate change. The projects are also of considerable importance for social cohesion and social integration in the community.

Since 2022, the programme has been financed by the Climate and Transformation Fund and will be continued with a clearer focus on the energy refurbishment of the facilities to be funded.
