New "emergency island" partners wanted
Training on Monday, 7 April 2025, at 7 pm at the Youth Welfare Office // Register now
On Monday, 7 April 2025, the "Alliance for Family" and the city of Bocholt are offering a training course for Bocholt businesses and institutions that would like to become "Emergency Island" partners. "Notinseln" are contact points for children to provide them with quick and uncomplicated support, help or protection. The training course starts at 7 pm at the Bocholt Youth Welfare Office.
"Emergency islands" offer protection and help
In the event that children and young people find themselves in an emergency situation, there are "emergency islands". These are safe places where children can go if they need help, for example because they have lost their bike keys, need to go to the loo, have missed the bus or feel threatened. You can recognise "emergency islands" by a conspicuous sticker that is clearly visible at the entrance.
The project started in Bocholt 17 years ago and since then there have been around 200 "emergency island" partners.
In order to become a "emergency island", it is necessary to take part in a training course - a representative of the future "emergency island" partner must attend. "In the training course, the participants receive all the important information about the project and learn how to behave correctly in an emergency", explains Ina Bühs from the Bocholt Youth Welfare Office.
This means that shops and facilities that are at ground level and easily accessible can become "emergency islands". To ensure that everything runs smoothly, at least two people must always be present during opening hours.
The training is also of interest to existing emergency island partners, as the new website at www.notinsel.de will be presented, where emergency islands can design their own "emergency island" page.
Registration by e-mail
The training course on 7 April will take place at 7 pm in the meeting rooms of the Youth and Family Department (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße 77) and will last around an hour. Registration is possible by e-mail at notinsel(at)bocholt(dot)de.
Strengthening the "Social City" brand
By supporting the "Notinsel" initiative, the city of Bocholt is sustainably strengthening its trademark as a social city.
