Bocholt's "Green Centre" is opened
Opening ceremony on Sunday on the grounds at the comprehensive school // Four hectares of recreational and environmental space
"Grüne Mitte" (Green Centre) - that is the name of the park adjacent to the grounds of the Bocholt Comprehensive School in the Fildeken-Rosenberg neighbourhood. And even if not all the plants are summer green yet, it is already clear to see: The project is rightly named.
Those responsible for the project and the administrative board of the city of Bocholt as well as employees of the companies involved now visited the park and the measures at the Biemenhorst primary school (Weserstraße) as part of a media appointment.
One could already see that the new offers are well accepted, said Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff in his short welcome speech. "An attractive park has been created here for the whole neighbourhood," said Kerkhoff. The Green Centre was created with financial support from the federal government and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia: 60 per cent of the necessary funds came from the "Social Cohesion" urban development programme of the federal government and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, said Kerkhoff.
The headmasters Jens Heinemann (Gesamtschule) and Hans Wessels (Biemenhorster Schule) thanked the companies Mola Landschaftsarchitektur GmbH and Landschaftsbau Vornholt GmbH for the planning and implementation. "Their employees have done an excellent job," praised Wessels.
"Among other things, we planted 90 new trees here in the Grüne Mitte," reported Michael Mielke, Managing Director of Mola Landschaftsarchitektur. "These are native trees and trees of the future that can also cope with climate change," said Mielke.
City planning officer Daniel Zöhler emphasised that it had also been possible to take existing woody plants into account in the planning. "One of the reasons the winning design was chosen in the competition was that a lot of the existing greenery could remain," said Zöhler.
Neighbourhood manager Julia Nakotte from the "Tür an Tür" association promoted the opening ceremony next Sunday. "Many associations and institutions from the neighbourhood will participate," said Nakotte. A colourful afternoon with a programme for young and old is planned. The festival will be open to everyone on the grounds between 12 and 4 pm.
About the Grüne Mitte
The "Grüne Mitte" project includes measures to revitalise the areas around the comprehensive school in the Fildeken-Rosenberg neighbourhood, the redesign of the outdoor grounds of the Biemenhorst school (Weserstraße site) and the renewal of the Rosenberg green corridor.
On a four-hectare area, the Green Centre combines ecology and recreational space for the residents of the Fildeken-Rosenberg neighbourhood. At the same time, the measures expanded the break facilities for pupils of the Bocholt Comprehensive School.
The extension and further development of the Biemenhorst primary school (Weserstraße site) includes the repair and extension of the existing schoolyard areas and the preparation of the outdoor facilities for the open all-day school.
