On Thursday, 5 September, the district of Borken and the city of Bocholt are hosting a symposium at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences dedicated to the topics of anti-feminism, sexism and racism in the school environment. The aim of the event is to sensitise teachers, school social workers and other people working in the school sector to these issues and to provide them with practical strategies for dealing with discrimination.
The event is aimed at school administrators, teachers, school social workers, parent and student representatives and other interested parties who work in the school environment. Registrations are still possible until 23 August 2024. The participation fee is 15 euros per person, including catering. The number of places is limited. Registration is possible online(https://eveeno.com/343136762).
As part of the symposium, various presentations and workshops will be offered that deal with the challenges and options for action in everyday school life. A central aim is to give participants a better understanding of the connections between anti-feminism, sexism, racism and queer hostility and to show them how they can actively contribute to promoting diversity and tolerance in schools.
The specialist day is offered by the regional school counselling centre of the Borken district in cooperation with the equal opportunities officer of the city of Bocholt.
