Bocholt comprehensive school celebrates its 10th anniversary
Action day on Friday // Mayor Kerkhoff congratulates on behalf of the administration
The Bocholt Comprehensive School has now been in existence for ten years. On Friday there was a joint celebration to mark the anniversary.
For the Bocholt Comprehensive School, the anniversary celebration is both a highlight and the end of the school year. The celebration was prepared by many helpers from the student body, parents and teachers.
"Exactly ten years ago, our journey as an educational institution began," Jens Heinemann opened his speech to the numerous guests in the schoolyard of the comprehensive school. The school started with 135 pupils and a staff of ten teachers, the headmaster said. "Today you are 970 pupils and 108 colleagues," Heinemann said. "That makes us the largest school in Bocholt."
He thanked his colleagues and also the city of Bocholt. "If you look around at other municipalities in NRW, it is fair to say that we are allowed to have a state-of-the-art school building," Heinemann said. That cannot be taken for granted.
Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff then addressed the guests. The comprehensive school is an enrichment for the Bocholt school landscape. "The fact that so many people participated in the school festival with conviction and enthusiasm is a sign of how much the pupils identify with their school," said Kerkhoff.
In a short video greeting, NRW Minister President Hendrik Wüst addressed the guests. "This is what makes school fun, when everyone pulls together, supports each other and when differences become strengths," said Wüst.
A lot was prepared for the visitors in the schoolyard of the comprehensive school: There was an "action area" with a bouncy castle, soccer field and archery, a "music area" with live music and dancing, and a "food area" with food and drinks. A raffle was also prepared by the organising team.
