Mr and Mrs Tanz-Herbstritt take over sponsorship of the "Year Tree 2024"
The couple Susanne Tanz-Herbstritt and Michael Tanz met with Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff in Bürgerpark-West for a very special occasion. On 25 April, the annual "Tree Day", they planted a rowan tree by the side of the path.
The young tree, which is already around 3.50 metres tall, now has a permanent place on the "Path of Annual Trees", which already has 35 specimens. Information boards provide walkers with interesting information about all the tree species, and the sponsors are also listed there.
Susanne Tanz-Herbstritt and her husband originally come from the Rhineland, have long since made Bocholt their home and enjoy walking their dog in the park. They had been thinking about sponsoring a tree for some time - and now it has worked out.
For the couple, the tree is also a kind of "family tree", as they say, associated with many good emotions: Their grandchildren attend the neighbouring kindergarten and Feldmark School, for example, and Michael Tanz's father once lived in the nearby retirement home and often went for a walk in the park.
It is now a good tradition that we in Bocholt celebrate the Germany-wide "Tree Day" with the planting of the annual tree and that Bürgerpark-West is enriched with interesting tree species year after year in this way. I would like to thank the tree sponsors very much.
Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff
About the rowan
The common service tree is the 35th annual tree in the Feldmark park. This tree species is popular with insects and birds and can grow up to 10 metres tall under favourable site conditions.
Here you can find more information about the Bocholt "Path of Annual Trees".
Sponsor a tree - this is how it works:
The sponsorship of a tree on the Bocholt "Yahresweg" costs 500 euros. Each tree will be labelled with information about the tree and the name of the sponsor. Companies, associations and private individuals can participate. The trees are maintained as part of the city's green maintenance programme and are therefore free of charge. Interested parties can contact the city of Bocholt on 02871 953-3257 or e-mail peter.schlabs(at)bocholt(dot)de.
