Municipality sends out voting notifications

Direct voting on 22 October or prior postal voting possible // Election office opens from 2 October

These days, the city of Bocholt is sending out voting notifications by post for the referendum on 22 October, in which citizens of Bocholt who are entitled to vote can decide on the question of whether or not accommodation for refugees should be built in the Biemenhorst district, on the street "Auf dem Takenkamp".

Together with the notification letter, a voting booklet will be sent out containing all relevant information on the citizens' referendum, with the justifications of both the representatives of the citizens' petition and the city council and administration.

All citizens of Bocholt who are entitled to vote are called upon to cast their vote on the referendum. Votes can be cast by direct vote or by postal vote.

Direct vote

On Sunday, 22 October, the polling stations will open in 17 voting districts from 8 am to 6 pm. Citizens will find out in which voting district they can cast their vote in the notification letter, which is currently being sent by post.

Voting by letter

Even before 22 October, eligible voters can cast their vote by postal ballot. On the notification letter there is a QR code which, when scanned e.g. with a smartphone, automatically leads to the application for sending voting documents. The online application is pre-filled with the personal data of the person entitled to vote.

Voting forms can also be applied for under the link(https://www.wahlschein.de/IWS/start.do?mb=5554008). The form is not pre-filled, unlike when scanning the QR code.

An online application for postal voting can be made until 18 October, 12 noon.

Completed postal voting documents can then be forwarded to the electoral office. Alternatively, citizens can cast their vote directly on site at the election office. The polling station will open on Monday, 2 October, and is located in the Mariengymnasium building, Schleusenwall 1. Votes can be cast there in advance until 20 October. The electoral office is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8am-12pm and from 2pm-5pm; on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8am-12pm. With two exceptions: On the public holiday, 3 October, the electoral office will be closed; on the last Friday before the vote, 20 October, it will be open from 8am-6pm.

The Bocholt electoral office can be reached by phone on 02871 953-2111 and by e-mail at wahlamt(at)bocholt(dot)de.
