City removes diseased street trees
On Herzogstraße, Humboldtplatz and "Auf der Ziegelheide", among others
Over the next few days, diseased street trees will be removed from various locations in the city. On closer inspection, they show considerable damage, such as rot, rotten spots or fungal infestation on the roots, trunk and crown. The trees cannot be preserved by arboricultural measures. They are removed to ensure road safety.
Three chestnut trees have to be removed along Herzogstrasse. The felled trees will be replaced by new plantings. The same applies to four maple trees on Humboldtplatz. They will also be replaced after felling.
On the street "In der Ziegelheide", north of the Bocholt cemetery, six street trees have to be removed (out of a total of 70 trees on the street). The trees will not be replaced in the same place, as the area represents potential space for a future Nordring route. The trees will therefore be replanted at other suitable locations in Bocholt.
In the near future, individual diseased trees will also be removed from other locations in the urban area.
