Wind energy: Initial results of the site concept are available
Maps available online
The city of Bocholt has commissioned a site concept for wind turbines. The initial results of the study are available and have been made public. The city of Bocholt draws attention to this.
In order to achieve climate neutrality, it is important to increase the proportion of wind power produced in Bocholt in the future, for example by modernising existing plants, but also by building new plants in the city. The city administration reported on this at the most recent building committee in June.
The wind turbine location concept for Bocholt serves as a basis and decision-making aid for identifying suitable locations for wind turbines and initiating new, so-called positive plans. The study covers the entire city area based on various criteria, including built-up areas, the natural environment and transport infrastructure.
Due to the high level of urban sprawl and many residential buildings in outlying areas, additional potential sites for wind turbines in Bocholt are limited. At the same time, the administration is working on further criteria to be taken into account when selecting sites.
The result maps show possible potential areas in the form of "white areas" for wind energy in Bocholt. They are publicly available on the city of Bocholt's website at www.bocholt.de/regenerative-energien. Citizens can obtain further information from the city planning department.
