"Westfalenspiegel": Town hall a "building of the boom years"
The New Town Hall on Berliner Platz is part of an article in "Westfalenspiegel" (issue 2/2024), the magazine for culture and society.
Under the title "Bauwerke der Boomjahre - Regional genial", Bocholt's town hall stands in a row with architecturally outstanding buildings such as the Dortmund Opera House, the Wohnhügelhaus Marl, the Morgner Museum in Soest and other stone witnesses of the time.
New construction and new beginnings, "Daring to be more democratic", was the motto in the 1960s and 1970s, and this was often reflected in the architecture of public buildings. These included the town hall on Berliner Platz, which was designed by Cologne architect Gottfried Böhm in Bocholt.
