Town hall renovation: construction site equipment temporarily dismantled
The construction site equipment at Berliner Platz will be temporarily dismantled for cost reasons. This concerns the construction crane, various construction containers and part of the construction fence. This was announced by Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff as part of a status report on the town hall renovation in the public part of the council meeting.
The tender documents for the new invitation to tender for architectural services are in the final coordination phase. In connection with the awarding of the planning services, a new tender for the project management will also be necessary. This is also currently being prepared.
As the procedure for re-tendering the project planning is ongoing and this is a prerequisite for the further implementation planning, work on the Berliner Platz construction site is suspended. For cost reasons, the construction site will therefore initially be dismantled in consultation with the contracted construction company. This will temporarily free up additional parking spaces on Berliner Platz.
Tenders have been invited for the geothermal and civil engineering works. Tenders for the concrete repair work are currently being evaluated. The partial construction measures are planned from May and should be completed in autumn, before the start of the funfair.
The investment costs for the town hall refurbishment are still estimated at 78 million euros, plus costs due to contract cancellation and change of planner.
