Town hall renovation: City council decides to award new contract

SSP AG from Bochum takes over continuation of town hall refurbishment in Bocholt

The town hall renovation in Bocholt will be continued by the Bochum-based company SSP AG. This was decided by Bocholt city council at its meeting on 18 September 2024.

The town hall on Berliner Platz, which was built in the 1970s as the administrative headquarters as well as a theatre and cultural centre, has been undergoing extensive refurbishment since the beginning of 2020. Following the cancellation of the contract with the original architectural firm, the continuation of the refurbishment work was put out to tender again. SSP AG from Bochum successfully won the tender.

In addition to the technical modernisation of the building, the council chamber is to be extended and the theatre brought up to date as part of the refurbishment. In addition, citizen-oriented services will be made more easily accessible on the ground floor. Special attention is being paid to the building's energy efficiency. The aim is to sustainably reduce energy consumption. The refurbishment should be completed by mid-2027. Dipl.-Ing. architect Stefan Bielefeld and Dipl.-Ing. architect Thorsten Lage from SSP AG reported to the council.
