"Jugend musiziert": Bocholt students win four first prizes at the regional competition
Excellent results for musicians
On Saturday, 28 January 2023, four ensembles consisting of nine music students from the Bocholt-Isselburg Music School took part in the 60th regional competition "Jugend musiziert" in Heek. All in all, the young talents from Bocholt won four first prizes in their categories. Two of the ensembles will go on to the regional competition in Münster.
In the category "Chamber Music with String Instruments", four ensembles and nine pupils from Bocholt presented their pieces, selected together with their teachers, to an expert jury at this year's regional competition in Heek. Two of the four participating chamber music groups had the same instruments (one violoncello, one violin), two other chamber music groups had mixed instruments (violin, viola and violoncello).

Dry spell through Corona
"It is pleasing that after the lean period due to Corona, the number of participants in the competition is slowly increasing again," reports music school director Claudia Borgers. She noticed a great atmosphere on site, the participation from Bocholt and above all the great results. "This is a huge success, everyone can be very proud of their achievements."
"Regardless of the competition result, the intensive preparation promotes the musical development of every single participant. Seeing the enthusiasm with which the musicians presented their pieces shows that the competition is about much more than points and prizes," emphasises the Bocholt music school director. In addition to the dedicated pupils, the teachers of all participants also contributed to this result with their numerous extra rehearsals and personal commitment. This year the pupils were prepared by the teachers Christiane Schröder, Priska Strümpfel, Gabriele Nußberger.
For Matilda Varone, Lara Nienhaus and Christina Seggewiße and Malik Geisler, the competition continues at the state competition in Münster from 24 to 28 March.
