Warning day in NRW: Thursday the sirens wail
On Thursday, 9 March, the alarm sirens will be sounding again throughout North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria. But don't worry: this is a test. In addition to the alarm sirens, the warnings via mobile phones, the so-called "cell broadcast", are also being tested.
Mobile phones also give an acoustic warning signal
The notification via mobile devices was also tested nationwide in December. The clearly audible alarm signal is to be triggered at around 11 a.m. on all supported mobile devices.
A list of devices that can process an alert via cell broadcast is available on the website of the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance. (Status: February 2023)
