Former head of the Bocholt fire brigade becomes state fire director

The former head of the Bocholt fire brigade has been appointed as the new state fire director by the NRW Ministry of the Interior. Deckers has been in charge of Department 33 of the Ministry of the Interior in NRW since 1 March.

"With Thomas Deckers, an experienced firefighter from Bocholt is taking on responsibility at the highest state level", says Bocholt's mayor Thomas Kerkhoff. On behalf of Bocholt's city administration, he congratulates Deckers on his new position.

"The appointment is a great honour for his many years of outstanding work, also here in Bocholt. We wish him all the best in his new role", said Kerkhoff.

After his training and two decades with the professional fire brigade in Wuppertal, Thomas Deckers worked for the fire brigade in Bocholt for more than 13 years. First as deputy chief from 2010 and finally as fire director and chief of the Bocholt fire brigade from 2015.
