Until Friday: Pack peace boxes for Ukraine

Ukraine currently lacks almost everything: in order to bring joy to the people there in the run-up to Christmas, the Blue-Yellow Cross Association is calling for people to pack peace boxes. In Bocholt, these can be handed in at the volunteer agency until Friday, 15 December.

"Christmas presents from NRW for children in the Ukrainian partner region" - this is the motto of the campaign launched by the Blau-Gelbes Kreuz Deutsch-Ukrainischer Verein e.V. association. "2,000 children are already living in shelters for internally displaced persons in the Dnipropetrovska Oblast," says the Cologne-based association.

All NRW cities are therefore called upon to pack peace boxes for the children. The association is making concrete suggestions for the contents, which should ideally consist of four different items:

Part 1) (one item)

  • Powerbank: A reliable power source for communication and entertainment
  • Cuddly toy: Provides a sense of companionship and comfort
  • Art supplies: Promotes creativity and self-expression
  • Socks and gloves: Protect from the cold
  • Hand warmer or hot water bottle: Provides quick and practical warmth

Part 2) Torch or candle: Provides safety during frequent power cuts

Part 3) Sweets and treats: A little joy in difficult times

Part 4) A postcard with a Christmas wish for a child

If you would like to take part in the campaign, you can hand in your peace box at the Bocholt Volunteer Agency (Langenbergstraße 18, 46397 Bocholt) until Friday, 15 December.

Opening hours:

Tuesday and Wednesday: 9.30 am to 12 noon

Thursday and Friday: 9.30 am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 5 pm
