Sixth aid transport packed for Ukraine
On Wednesday, 22 January, the sixth humanitarian aid transport was packed for the Ukrainian city of Verkhniodniprovsk. The city of Bocholt signed a solidarity partnership with the Ukrainian municipality in October 2023. "This important step underlines the commitment of the citizens of Bocholt and the ever closer ties between the two cities", according to the city of Bocholt.
The latest aid transport is the sixth large transport with a 40-tonne lorry within a year. In addition, three vehicle donations - consisting of a 7.5 tonne lorry, an ambulance and a minibus - were sent to Verkhniodniprovsk

Among the special donations that were loaded as part of this aid transport were 44 swivel chairs for pupils from the neighbouring Dutch municipality of Aalten. In addition, 26 desks and other humanitarian aid supplies such as bandages, medical supplies, pillows, blankets and warm clothing were loaded into the 40-tonne lorry.

New chairs and desks for three classrooms were also loaded into the lorry. The associated tablets and smartboards had already been brought to Verkhniodniprovsk in earlier shipments. These humanitarian aid supplies were made available to the city of Verkhniodniprovsk by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) at the request of the city of Bocholt. It also handed over the donated minibus, which was delivered to the Ukrainian city in November.
Humanitarian aid transport to start soon
18 dedicated helpers from Germany and refugees from Ukraine loaded the lorry. They came from the "Helping Hands" initiative of the parish of St Josef and the Bocholt Volunteer Agency. "Their tireless efforts and team spirit are an impressive sign of solidarity and cooperation", praised the city of Bocholt. The humanitarian aid transport, which was made possible by generous donations from Bocholt and the neighbouring Netherlands, will set off for Ukraine next week.
Thanks for generous support
The city of Verkhniodniprovsk would like to thank all organisations, helpers and the city of Bocholt for their generous support in these difficult times of war. "Your willingness to help and act in solidarity is invaluable", says the mayor of the Ukrainian twin city, Gennadii Lebid.
