European youth camp takes place in August
"ERASMUS + Youth" promotes encounters with partner cities // Next youth camp from 4 to 11 August 2024
The European Union's funding programme "ERASMUS + Youth" is supporting the European Youth Camp of the City of Bocholt with 31,800 euros. The motto of this summer's youth camp is "European Youth Art - borderless art in the European city of Bocholt". It will take place from 4 to 11 August in the Europa-Haus Bocholt. Interested parties can already register now.
Young people between the ages of 14 and 17 from Bocholt as well as from neighbouring and twin towns are invited. The city of Bocholt is expecting guests from the twin towns of Aurillac and Arpajon-sur-Cère (France), Bocholt (Belgium), Rossendale (Great Britain), Akmene (Lithuania) and the neighbouring Netherlands. Young people from the friendly city of Vlora (Albania) and the city of Verkhniodniprovsk (Ukraine), with which the city of Bocholt has maintained a solidarity partnership since October 20223, will also be given the opportunity to take part.
The diversity of Europe as a guide
"United in diversity" - that is the motto of the European Union. This motto describes the European cultural landscape and thus also our cultural co-operation with the friendly and partner cities of the European City of Bocholt. Because culture in all its colours, facets and forms unites us in Europe across borders.
Joint art and cultural events
The aim is to make young people aware that we have a wealth of cultural diversity on our European continent. This is to be symbolised and experienced through various art activities and excursions. The participating nations (Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Lithuania and Great Britain) reflect the diversity of people from different countries who live here in NRW.
Examples from the friendly and partner cities
The young people bring art and cultural ideas from their home countries, which they realise together with the young people from the other nations. There are no limits to their imagination. The art results (paintings, sculptures, collages etc.) are to be shown to the public in an exhibition at the end.
Bocholt youths wanted
The youth camp organisers are looking for interested young people from Bocholt aged between 14 and 17 who would like to take part in the European youth camp. Young people with an international family history are particularly welcome. The city has eight places to offer. If there are more applications, the decision will be made by lot.
Interested young people can send their wish to take part by e-mail to Petra Taubach, European Affairs Officer for the City of Bocholt, e-mail: petra.taubach(at)bocholt(dot)de.
