5th international nativity scene tour opened in "Dinxperwick
Nativity scenes from all over the world at 59 exhibition sites along the border
Numerous guests could be welcomed by organizer Rosi Tuente on the Suderwick village square for the opening of the 5th International Nativity Scene Tour in Dinxperwick. Until January 6, 2023, nativity scenes from all over the world will be presented at 59 exhibition sites along the German-Dutch border. Visitors can admire the nativity scenes in private homes, stores and churches. They are illuminated daily from 1 to 9 p.m. and visible from the outside.
For the first time, the official opening of the Nativity Tour took place. It was musically framed by the Isselburg brass orchestra and the Dutch midwinter brass band.
The visitors sang along with songs like "Ihr Kinderlein kommet", "Oh Tannenbaum" and "Kling, Glöckchen, kling". The team around Rosi Tuente took care of the physical well-being with coffee, children's punch as well as speculoos and Christmas stollen.
Nativity scenes come to the public
The parish priest of St. George, Matthias Hembrock, spoke the first greeting. He was pleased that with the 5th International Tour the nativity scene comes into the public. The crib thus becomes visible, said Father Hembrock.
He was happy about the decorated big fir tree on the Suderwick village square. The children and young people from JuKids and the Michaelstreff Suderwick had made the Christmas decorations themselves.
Christmas crib goes back to Francis of Assisi
On behalf of the city of Bocholt, Deputy Mayor Elisabeth Kroesen spoke of the history of the Christmas crib. "It goes back to Francis of Assisi, who first re-enacted the Christmas story with living people and animals in 1223," Kroesen said.
She thanked organizer Rosi Tuente and team. She gave special thanks to the people who make their homes and businesses or even the nativity scenes available. She also expressed her gratitude to the donors.
The mayor of the neighboring Dutch municipality of Aalten echoed her words. However, he stressed that "we also need to make a tradition out of the opening of the Nativity Tour."
Nativity tour in Dinxperwick to continue until Jan. 6, 2023
The 5th International Nativity Tour will take place in Suderwick and Dinxperlo. New to the tour are the towns of Anholt and Spork. Also in the Dutch towns of De Heurne and Breedenbroek, various companies are participating with attractive exhibition sites.
Visitors are invited to take part in the "Find the Rabbit" competition during their Nativity tour. 42 companies have donated goods ranging from BAHIA vouchers to a canoe tour for this purpose.
The draw will take place on January 18, 2023, 17:30, at the Kulturhus / Noaberz Dinxperlo, Terborgse Weg 3.
