54 nativity scenes on display in German-Dutch border villages
6th International Nativity Scene Tour until 7 January
Many interesting nativity scenes can be seen in the Bocholt border area with the Dutch municipality of Dinxperlo until 7 January 2024. They are part of the 6th International Nativity Scene Tour.
Information and the flyer with the route and locations can be found on the organisers' website at www.dinxperwick.info.
The cot tour is also supported by the city of Bocholt. Bocholt's deputy mayor Gudrun Koppers: "Tradition doesn't stop at the border here. German-Dutch co-operation is exemplary in this respect. The city of Bocholt would like to thank the organisers and all supporters." Aalten's mayor Anton Stapelkamp hopes that the nativity scene tour will "inspire people to think about the true meaning of Christmas." Bocholt's pastor Matthias Hembrock is pleased that the "nativity scenes give hope and courage in these dark times."
About the nativity scene tour
The team led by Rosi Tuente from Suderwick has once again found numerous contributors who are willing to make and exhibit the nativity scenes. Interested visitors can view the individually designed nativity scenes at 54 locations across Suderwick and Dinxperlo.
When visiting the cots, don't forget to pay attention to every detail and look for the hidden Easter bunnies, which are part of a competition. The winners of the search game will be drawn in mid-January.
Numerous shops, companies and partners on the German and Dutch sides are supporting the nativity scene tour.
Funding from the European Union
The opening ceremony was made possible as part of the German-Netherlands Interreg programme and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt provided support with the application.
