Bread roll bag for the day against violence against women
Bocholt - 25 November is the International Day against Violence against Women. For this reason, the equal opportunities officers of the Borken district have launched a special campaign: A bread roll bag that promotes education and provides information.
If you pick up your bread rolls tomorrow (Saturday), you might get them in an unusual package: for the International Day against Violence against Women, many bakeries are offering a special campaign bag. It contains the telephone numbers and contacts for help centres in the Borken district.
"It is very important that people are constantly reminded that there is still too much violence against women in Germany," says Ute Dudarski from the Community of Equal Opportunities Officers in the Borken district. The campaign is intended to provide targeted information about offers of help in the district.
"And, of course, it should raise awareness," says Bocholt's equal opportunities officer Astrid Schupp. According to Schupp, the bag provides affected men and women with an unobtrusive source of information. "We want to create an opportunity for affected women and men to get information about where they can get in touch," says the Equal Opportunities Officer.
More than 180 cases this year
According to the Borken district police authority, there were 183 criminal reports of "domestic violence" in Bocholt between January and September this year alone. If you include the towns of Isselburg and Rhede, the district police report a total of 241 offences. "It's an issue that affects all levels of society," says Ute Dudarski.
