CITY CYCLING: Kids get excited about screwdriver workshops
As part of the CITY CYCLING campaign, the city of Bocholt, ROSE Bikes and JUNGE UNI organised two workshops for bike enthusiasts to learn how to repair and maintain their bikes themselves. Under the guidance of bike professionals from ROSE Bikes, practical skills were taught to get two-wheelers ready for the summer.
ROSE professionals give tips
The two-hour workshops were aimed at children and young people aged 10 to 16. The kids worked on bikes provided by ROSE Bikes in the Makerspace Bocholt. The participants were given the opportunity to learn from the experts how to patch tyres, adjust the bike correctly and repair it. Special attention was paid to details such as how to correctly apply the brakes - an important lesson to ensure that the bike works properly after repair.
The workshops not only provided hands-on experience, but also an opportunity for participants to deepen their interest in bicycle mechanics and learn from experienced professionals.
The CITY CYCLING campaign will continue until 21 May. You can still collect kilometres until then. More information at www.bocholt.de/stadtradeln. Almost 2,700 cyclists have cycled around 474,000 kilometres for Bocholt so far.
