Roof greening in Bocholt with financial support from the city
Up to 50 per cent of the costs // Submit your application quickly and easily digitally now
Now is the right time to think about planting plants on the roof of your house or garage, and not just because of the weather. The city of Bocholt provides financial support for private initiatives for ecological green roofs through a funding programme.
The current time offers ideal conditions for successful roof greening, as the outside temperatures are dropping and humid days are becoming more frequent. "After planting, the anticipation begins! Put your hands in your lap and wait. Nature itself will take care of growth, colour and sufficient watering. Next spring, the "roof bloomers" will then be a great sight, strong and firmly anchored," advertises Bocholt's environmental officer Angela Theurich.
The city of Bocholt is financially supporting the environmentally friendly project by granting a subsidy of 50 percent of the costs, up to a maximum of 25 euros per square metre. This subsidy covers expenses in connection with the construction of the vegetation layer including protective fleece, filter mat, drainage layer, substrate and the plants themselves. The selection of roof plants is diverse and ranges from different colours to different shapes. What they all have in common is their extremely low-maintenance nature and low water requirements.
A minimum height of 8 centimetres ensures that the green roof is not damaged even during hot summer months and dry periods and can retain excess water when it rains. The city of Bocholt also supports climbing plants, including the corresponding installation technology, with a funding rate of 50 per cent.
Interested parties can submit the application for funding digitally on the city of Bocholt's website at www.bocholt.de. Alternatively, a printed version of the funding application is available. For further information, please call 02871/953-3262.
With this initiative, the city of Bocholt is not only promoting the environment, but also creating attractive, green urban oases for all citizens.
