Big bike fair at the weekend
RADTRENDS on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the leisure facility on Lake Aa // With sales, programme and test course
The Mecca for local bike fans is in Bocholt this weekend. The big bike fair RADTRENDS will take place there on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Aasee leisure centre (Hochfeldstraße 56a) - with sales, a programme and a test course. Admission is free.
The Bocholt bike fair shows mobility by pedalling for everyone. Whether with two, three or more wheels: RADTRENDS 2024 presents the latest bikes for adventurers, everyday riders, athletes and people with disabilities on 23 and 24 March. There will also be plenty of opportunities for the whole family to actively participate and try things out. Plus trends, fashion, fitness tips, tour suggestions and much more.
"As interest in climate-friendly mobility by pedal power has risen rapidly in recent years and is still on an upward trend, this time the fair will take place in the large leisure hall at Lake Aasee", says Angela Theurich, environmental officer and organiser of RADTRENDS. The pump track facility permanently installed there guarantees fun and activity.
More than 30 exhibitors
In addition to the latest models to touch and try out, more than 30 exhibitors will also be presenting all kinds of accessories, cycling holidays, clothing, navigation systems and cycling-related services.
Artistic bike show
There will also be fun for young and old alike. Kids can watch in fascination and try out their own tricks at the Trial Club Stadtlohn on Saturday.
A highlight on Sunday is the artistic cycling show by David Schnabel, one of the best artistic cyclists in the world with several world championship titles to his name. He has turned his sport into an event and turned his freestyle into a show choreographed with music in the truest sense of the word "on the bike". You can be inspired as part of the RADTRENDS trade fair in the Freizeithalle am Aasee Bocholt on Sunday, 24 March 2024, at 11:00, 12:00, 14:30, 15:30 and 16:30.
The BMX bikers guarantee real speed on the waves of the pump track in the outdoor area of the hall. Be amazed and try it yourself: professional bikers, BMX bikes, rental helmets and instructions will be provided by the bike experts from ROSE Bikes Bocholt.
Ride a penny-farthing
If you are brave enough, you can get a penny-farthing driving licence. The historic vehicles are available in four heights, and riding trainers help with this unusual mode of transport. Wobbly bikes also offer a fun and unusual experience - a real challenge for balance and dexterity.
Children aged 2-4 years have fun on the supervised junior course. They rumble over waves, see-saws and jogging tracks on their balance bikes. At the "Planet Upcycling" stand, bags and jewellery can be made from bicycle inner tubes. "There's much more to see and do, so just drop by", advises city councillor Daniel Zöhler.

Bicycles conquer the streets
The climate community of Bocholt is one of the leading cycling cities in Germany. Last year, Bocholt once again won silver in the nationwide CITY CYCLING competition", says Theurich. Cycle lanes are being created, lockable parking boxes are finding their way into the city centre, cycle paths are becoming wider and the surface more comfortable.
Pedelecs and "bio-bikes" are conquering the streets, and cargo bikes are increasingly replacing second cars. "This is good for the city and the people", says city planning officer Daniel Zöhler. That's why Radtrends 2024 once again offers the entire spectrum of bikes. The latest range of racing, cross and mountain bikes as well as recumbent bikes and other exotic models will be on display.
Cycling fun despite a handicap
There will be innovations in pedal-assisted special solutions for people with disabilities. It will be shown how easy barrier-free cycling can be and how it can offer people with disabilities new freedom. The local Bocholt support programme provides Bocholt residents with up to 2,500 euros to purchase a special bike to suit their needs.
The accessories show that cycling now means more to many than just a quiet, environmentally friendly and congestion-free alternative to the car: the spectrum ranges from iconic accessories with a manufactory character to bicycle bags in tubular design.
Catering is provided at the trade fair.
