85 trees planted at the new centre in Stenern
New plants for Klemens-Honsel-Weg // Work this week
The Klemens-Honsel-Weg in Stenern has been open to traffic for a few weeks. This week, a company planted 85 new trees there on behalf of the city of Bocholt.
Red ash, hop hornbeam, Norway maple, linden, cord trees - the Klemens-Honsel-Weg in Stenern will be lined with many different tree species in the future. They all have one thing in common: they are drought-tolerant and thus well prepared for difficult climatic conditions.
"Most of the trees were planted in the past few days, eight more will follow in April," says Peter Schlabs from the municipal department of mobility and environment. For the last trees, he says, part of the subsoil still has to be loosened.
"We also try to realise as much greenery in the city as possible in our road construction projects," says city building officer Daniel Zöhler. Because: "That not only looks good, but is also an active contribution to environmental protection and species conservation."
