European elections 2024: High interest in postal voting

The European elections next Sunday, 9 June, are approaching. Anyone wishing to cast their vote before then can do so by casting their vote in person by post at the Bocholt electoral office until 6 p.m. next Friday, 7 June. Interest in postal voting is high.

In Bocholt, a total of 55,709 citizens are entitled to vote in the European elections. They can cast their vote in 48 polling stations between 8 am and 6 pm.

Many citizens are saving themselves the trip to the polling station: 11,447 people have already submitted postal vote applications (as of 3 June). In comparison: in the 2019 European elections, a total of 8,123 eligible voters applied for a polling card.

Anyone wishing to cast their vote early by postal vote can do so until Friday, 7 June 2024, 6 pm. The Bocholt electoral office can be reached via the inner courtyard at Mariengymnasium (Schleusenwall 1). Anyone wishing to receive postal voting documents by post should bear in mind the duration of the postal route.

Postal voting documents can also be applied for in person at the Bocholt electoral office. Here you can also vote on the spot and hand in the sealed red ballot letter. Citizens must bring proof of identity (identity card, passport) and, if possible, their personal polling card.

Postal voting documents can be applied for with a power of attorney for a third party. However, authorised representatives may collect the voting documents for a maximum of four eligible voters.

It is important to note that only postal votes received by 6 p.m. on election Sunday, 9 June, can be counted on election night. Anyone wishing to send their red ballot letter by post should note the postal route and send their ballot letter as soon as possible. Postage is free of charge.
