City administration sends out election notifications
For Bundestag elections on 23 February // Information on postal voting and new polling stations
The early Bundestag election will take place on Sunday, 23 February 2025. In the coming days, the city administration will be sending out election notifications to all eligible voters in Bocholt with important information on polling stations and postal voting. In Bocholt, 54,396 citizens are registered to vote.
Voter notifications should reach eligible voters by 2 February 2025 at the latest. Citizens who have not received a notification by this date are requested to contact the Bocholt electoral office. The notification contains, among other things, information about the polling station. You should take a close look here: There will be new polling stations for some eligible voters in Bocholt, as the electoral areas in Bocholt have been redistributed.
Special features for postal voting
The election notification also contains information on how to apply for postal voting documents. This is possible both in writing and verbally, but applications by telephone are not possible. For easy application, the election notifications are provided with a QR code that already contains the personal details. Alternatively, interested parties can now also apply for postal voting via the website www.bocholt.de/bundestagswahl.
Voters should note that postal delivery times have been shortened due to the early election date. Postal voting is also possible two weeks before the election "on site" at the electoral office. Here, the documents can be handed out personally on request so that you can even vote on the spot.
It should also be noted that the mailing of postal voting documents is not expected to begin until two weeks before the election, even if eligible voters have already submitted their application earlier. The reason for this is that it will probably not be known until the end of January which parties and candidates will be on the ballot paper. Only then can the printing of the ballot papers begin and the ballot papers can be sent out to postal voters.
The completed postal ballot papers must be returned in good time or handed in directly to the electoral office in order to be counted by 23 February at 6 pm.
40 polling stations
Votes will be counted in Bocholt on 23 February in forty polling stations and by twenty postal ballot boards.
The electoral office is located at Schleusenwall 1 (in the wing of the Mariengymnasium). Up-to-date information on the Bundestag election in Bocholt can be found on the city's website at www.bocholt.de/bundestagswahl.
