Special films: Directors present their works in Bocholt
Two short films on Tuesday, 26 November at 8 pm at the Kinodrom
On Tuesday, 26 November, the popular series "The Special Film" invites you to the Kinodrom once again. This time, the programme features two extraordinary short films that have a special connection to Bocholt. Both directors will be on hand on Tuesday to answer questions about their works.
The first film, "The Bookkeepers", takes viewers on an atmospheric journey into the world of antiquarian booksellers - a dwindling community of people who have dedicated their lives to collecting and preserving old books.
The documentary accompanies Monika Grevers from Bocholt, Rainer Heeke from Bredevoort and Helmut Hümbs-Steinbeck, the director's father, in their daily work and shows the challenges they face in an increasingly digital world.
With impressive images and an emotional musical score, director Christiaan Hümbs-Steinbeck manages to bring the love of the book to the screen. After the screening, the director will be available to answer questions from the audience.

In the second short film, "The Spökenkikerin and the Fräulein", historical and mystical elements merge with a pinch of humour. The story tells of an aristocratic young woman who saves the love of her life, a shepherdess, from imminent danger in the 19th century with the help of occult powers.
The short film is based on the short story of the same name by Charlotte Krafft. At the Münster 2023 film festival, it was named "Best Short Film" of the Westfalen Connection and won the Blue Flower Award in three categories. Director Mark Lorei, who comes from Bocholt, is also available to answer questions about this film.
