Ritter-Rost creator Jörg Hilbert provides insights into the world of books

Book workshop in the anniversary year with the successful author Jörg Hilbert and "Ritter Rost"

Bocholt City Library is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a very special event for children of primary school age. The well-known children's book author Jörg Hilbert will show how a book is created in an interactive book workshop. Under the motto "Write, draw, design", Jörg Hilbert will give young visitors a unique insight into his work as a book professional and answer all their questions.

Based on his book "Ritter Rost im WWWunderland", the author illustrates the process of creating a book in an entertaining way. From the initial idea to printing, the path to the finished book is explained in a child-friendly way.

Not only is it shown how texts are created and images are designed, but technical terms such as type area, typography and layout are also explained to the young audience. The audience learns first-hand who is involved in the creation of a book and gets answers to questions such as: How is a book cover created? How do you come up with a story? And what does an editor actually do?

Live reading from Ritter Rost

Of course, this event will also include a reading from the book "Ritter Rost im WWWunderland". All curious children and their accompanying adults can look forward to an interesting and varied programme", promises Claudia Alders, Head of the Children's and Young People's Book Department.

The event on Saturday, 8 June, starts at 11 am. The book workshop will take place in the Futura event room in the media centre, Hindenburgstr. 5, 46395 Bocholt. Admission is 5 euros per person. Tickets are available at the city library and at the box office.
