Lecture: "With three bike tours across the Alps - from Salzburg to the Adriatic"

On Tuesday, 5 November 2024, the Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg Adult Education Centre (VHS) invites you to a lecture at the Bocholt Media Centre. Under the title "With three bike tours across the Alps - From Salzburg to the Adriatic", the speaker and author Gabriele will tell an exciting travelogue. The event starts at 19:30.

At the centre of the lecture evening is an adventurous, challenging and insightful travel experiment: What drives Gabriele Reiß (68), a woman from the Ruhr region who is in love with the Alps and author, to travel from Salzburg to the Gulf of Venice on her three-speed Dutch bike - without booking a room, without a separate luggage transfer and without the help of train connections?

The answers are surprisingly varied. 16 days, 450 km, 3500 metres of climbing on the Ciclovia-Alpe-Adria cycle path, the countries/region of Salzburger Land, Carinthia and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. On day 13, a route deviation via San Daniele del Friuli to the "King of the Alps", the Tagliamento. It can only be reached off the beaten track: the last great wild river in the Alps, touching in its paradisiacal beauty and uniqueness.

With photos, stories and texts from her book "An Impossibly Beautiful Journey", Gabriele Reiß creates a lively evening in the Alps that awakens longing.
