Lecture on "hearing without barriers"
Lecturer provides information on modern technology for hearing systems // Free admission
On Wednesday, 12 March, Ralf Göppert has been invited by the Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg Adult Education Centre (VHS) to give a talk entitled "Hearing without barriers - Inductive hearing systems" about a modern technology that is increasingly being used in lecture theatres today.
A hearing aid or cochlear implant (CI) is a great help for people with hearing impairments. However, they alone are not sufficient for good speech intelligibility in lecture theatres due to background noise and reverberation. An effective bridging of the distance between the speaker with microphone and the hearing system of the hearing impaired person is possible with a built-in inductive hearing system (ring loop) in the room.
Inductive hearing systems can be found in other public buildings in addition to the LernWerk event room where the lecture is taking place. This makes hearing much more relaxed, clearer and distortion-free. The lecture will explain how the T-coil works and draw a comparison with Bluetooth technology. Ideally, participants should visit their hearing aid acoustician in advance to have the T-coil - if installed in the device - activated so that they can already hear the lecture inductively.
The speaker, Ralf Göppert, is the city of Bocholt's disability officer for structural matters and spokesperson for the self-help group for the hearing impaired in the Borken district, which also uses an inductive hearing system at its meetings.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. in the LernWerk, Industriestr. 1. Admission is free.
